Background
The Visa for acquiring German language proficiency is available for foreigners. This can be for studies or to find work. The duration of the Visa is usually one year for language study. A study preparation visa is an extended form of language visa designed for students who wish to study bachelors or masters in the German medium at State recognized Universities. This usually lasts two years, including the language study and any other preparation which is generally needed to eligible for the University admission
Requirement
Admission to an intensive German language course. An intensive German language course is generally a course in which German is taught daily for at least 18 hours per week. Evening or weekend courses are not sufficient.

Proof that you are able to cover your costs of living for the duration of your stay. This can be proven by way of a blocked account or a declaration of commitment (Verpflichtungserklärungen).
